Donaghadee Replacement Dwelling
This proposed dwelling in Donaghadee aims to balance modern design principles with a coastal vernacular. The east-west orientation maximizes natural light and enhances connections to both the streetscape and the garden beyond. Large openings along the east and west elevations reinforce these visual links, while minimal fenestration on the north and south elevations ensures privacy for neighbouring properties.
A split-gable configuration introduces depth and variation, drawing inspiration from local Victorian forms while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. White render and timber cladding create a crisp, textural contrast, complemented by a stone-clad entrance. Internally, an open-plan ground floor fosters family living, with expansive sliding doors linking the interior to the garden and sea views.
