New Build, Ponteland
This scheme for the new house has been developed to enhance the site and to create an attractive and sustainable new property within the Darras Hall area. The new build replaces an existing 1970s bungalow which has been found to have severe structural problems placing it beyond practical economic repair.
The floor plan has been developed around a T-shaped plan, allowing for generous front and rear garden spaces as well as sufficient space to the sides of the property to correlate with the Darras Hall planning byelaws. Windows and doors have been positioned to make the most of the south-west facing aspect, and to maximise daylight penetration throughout the house.
Designed around a timber frame build, external features include a timber framed entrance canopy and a gable elevation broken up by the incorporation of chimney detailing, natural slate roofs with dormer windows and a rustic brick all aimed at creating an attractive dwelling which contributes to its setting within the Darras Hall ‘garden city’.
Planning approval was achieved in May 2020 and work is anticipated to start on site in summer 2020.
